Senator Paschal Donohoe                                                            Newsletter 2: 08/03/2010

Welcome to my Newsletter. I hope you find it of interest.

Fine Gael will continue to campaign for a fairer solution to our banking crisis, the responsible management of our national finances and, most important of all, a strategy for job creation to tackle the tragedy of unemployment amongst our young men and women

On a local level I am working closely with Councillor Ray McAdam and Councillor Mary O'Shea to highlight the needs of our constituency. Based on the feedback from constituents during our weekly canvasses, we regularly raise issues with local council staff.  Please access www.paschaldonohoe.ie for more news on our work.

Fine Gael's Faircare Health Plans
Fine Gael want to reform the healthcare system to make it fairer and to deliver better value for money. Our Faircare health plan is based on a detailed study of healthcare systems across the world. This plan will see waiting lists abolished, patient-centred care and an abolition of the current two-tiered system. We would implement this on a phased basis, with more information available here: Faircare.
Local Work

Updates on my work with Councillors Mary O Shea and Ray McAdam on all local matters across the constituency are available here.

My main priorities have included.

  • Local Infrastructure: the local Fine Gael team have continued our work on the proposed Dublin Underground Dart. This work included a public meeting on this plan for the East Wall community. More information on this is available here. We are also following up on the development of the new Grangegorman/Broombridge Luas line.

  • The City Development Plan: we organised two public meetings on this new plan to hear feedback from the local community on new planning guidelines for the city. The meetings were well attended and many important issues were discussed (further information available here). Based on these meetings, Mary and Ray will be making detailed contributions to the Development Plan process.

Other issues include the development of a new policing plan, the future of schools in the North Wall area, the proposed mobile phone mast in the Glasnevin Industrial Estate and the continuing problem of  the state of rental properties. Detailed information on all of this work is available here.
