Welcoming the official opening of the final upgrade of the M50 today (Wednesday), Fine Gael Seanad Spokesperson on Transport, Senator Paschal Donohoe, said that the completed works will be an asset to our road network but that it comes with a heafty price tag for the taxpayer.

Lots of coverage today of the launch of Phizzfest. The Irish Times cover the Lord Mayor dancing his way through Phibsborough available here. There was another very successful table quiz on Friday night – which my team won! My office will become the Phizzfest Box Office from next Monday.

The Evening Herald feature my raising with the cut backs to St Mary’s Hospital. If you combine this with the cut backs to the Sancta Maria Day Care Centre it shows a sustained loss of common sense and morality. Crazy stuff.

In the midst of this economic depression we are painfully short of heroes. Maybe because of this there is no shortage of villains. If a villain wields great power over your destiny then it’s preferable if they are faceless, not based in Ireland and if they already have a bad reputation. That way by attacking them you have little to lose.
