Underground Dart – East Wall

Ray and I attended a meeting on the Underground Dart in the Sean O Casey centre last Thursday evening. This is the first meeting since we lodged our submission to An Bord Pleanala. The evening was organised by the Protect East Wall group.

At this meeting they discussed the next stages of the campaign. Ray and I committed to looking for written transcripts for the An Bord Pleanala Oral Hearings. We also will request the base line information on noise, sound and dust prior to the hearings.

Update on Dart Underground

WHAT IS THE DART UNDERGROUND?
The proposed DART Underground is set to play a central role in Dublin’s commuter rail network. It is intended to link all existing and proposed rail modes into a single integrated and cohesive network. This project will see the construction of approximately 7.6km of underground tunnelling from Inchicore to East Wall where it will link up with the northern rail-line. The DART Underground will be one of the largest infrastructural projects ever built in this country.

An update on my work in East Wall.

Dart Underground

Over the past twenty four hours, there have been various media reports stating that the DART Underground project has been delayed until 2018 at the earliest. I believe Irish Rail has experienced unexpected difficulties with the planning and design process. Councillor Ray McAdam and I had been initially informed the planning process would be delayed by three months following Irish Rail’s discussions with An Bord Pleanala. It is now clear that we need an update from Irish Rail outlining the particular problems that have arisen and whether the planning process will continue or if a new process will have to begin further down the line. I will continue to work closely with the East Wall Residents’ Association to ensure that the concerns of local people are taken into consideration prior to any works associated with this project take place.

Underground Dart – Update

UnderGround-DART

Councillor Ray McAdam has informed me of a delay in the proposed Railway Order for the Underground Dart. It appears that there could be a delay of some months before the application is lodged. Ray has been successful in having those involved in this project invited to the Central Area Committee Meeting next Tuesday. As readers of this site might be aware we have organised a public meeting on this plan and have been following up on some key local issues.

If there are any issues that you want Ray to raise on this project please let us know.
